SP Kennel dogs howl because…… well, we don’t know….

We know that they howl quite often after meals or when a team leaves the yard. They howl when they hear a distant neighbor howl. Of course, they howl when they are “coaxed” to howl by Aliy or Allen.
All in all, they seem to love howling. Their tails are naturally wagging and their heads are thrown back with ecstasy. Some dogs stay in their houses, some jump to attention. Regardless, of what it all means …. it’s a lovely sight and sound ….. for us mere humans.

  • We rescued a Husky (found in our front yard) after Hurricane Ike. He had no tags; he had never been seen in the neighbourhood before. We eventually learned he was from about 50 miles away. Luckilky my cousin has about 35 huskies in Northern Alberta and helped us learn how to look after a dog that behaved like a two-year old…smart, smart, smart. Good fortune helped us find his owner. When Marty's owner showed up he howled and howled and howled with his head lying near her shoulder. Yes, he had liked us and loved our dogs but he wanted his real home. It was so obvious. A very moving moment in our lives.
