Here they are! The 2010 Iditarod Ceremonial Starts for your SP Kennel Teams! The footage is entirely uncut so you can have the next best experience to being here in person:

I’ve got some great “pre-start” footage that I will edit together as soon as I can. Stay tuned!

  • Hey Mac,
Thanks for the video. Gave me something to smile about. I've been bummed here in Florida knowing Iditarod was starting today and I'm not there. I've got to get there for the start again! So much fun and excitement!

  • "Look at that! How great is that? That's just fantastic!"

I heaved a satisfied sigh as I watched Allen pull away – I wish I were there.

  • Ok- I have watched this again and again. Who is the dog behind Snickers? That dog jumps like Happy, has a white tip on the tail like Happy, perks the ears like Happy, and was turned around at the start (like Happy might do).

I thought maybe it is Homebrew, Tony, or Nutmeg? I think I have ruled out Homebrew and Tony, but I am not convinced it is Meg. I also didn't see Happy in Allen's start.
I don't know-I give up! Who is it?

  • HI this is Sarah J from Nebraska, thanks for the video!! Is the cerimonial start the real start and you keep going or how does it work. I am excited to know who the lead dog is, I loved the little shoes they had on. Do you know the order the dogs are in after skittles and cha cha thanks!!
I cant wait to see your next post.

  • Okay!…

The dog behind Snickers, running with Dingle is, indeed, Happy The Sled Dog… Yes, on Aliy's Red Team… There's more to the story which I will share ASAP… Fun, but not "happy"…

The ceremonial start is just a short run through Anchorage… it doesn't "count" as part of the Iditarod… The "real" start is tomorrow morning in Willow… We will cover it in full…

  • indeed: this was the best identifier of happy: when everybody started to run and happy turned to the back :o)
