While Aliy and the dogs are sleeping, I thought I’d share their Iditarod finish in Nome from their point of view. I think you will find this video very moving, and even a little amusing with Rosie wanting to stop for pats from all the spectators.

When Aliy wakes up, I’ll try to get an update on the dogs, etc… Stay tuned!

  • That was really cute! They were just so excited! Please tell Aliy that Eagle Pack Kelly from Miami watched and followed her the WHOLE race!! I hope she will visit her family soon in Fl so I can take she and Allen out for a big Congratulations dinner!!!
We are still watching Allen so keep us updated on he and the dogs!!!
    Great job Aliy!

  • Congratulations to Aliy and the Red Team from SP Kennel fans in the Bay Area of California. We get a big kick out of your "Aliy Cam"s and learning more about the race and the dogs. How's Cha Cha? Tonia and Paco

  • That's adorable. Six dogs paying attention to the job at hand (and it seems to me looking peppy for just having gone 1000 miles), and Rose and Tatfish would rather make friends with half of Nome. Seriously cute.

  • Congratulations to Aliy and of course everybody of the SP kennel team who maked this incrideble achievement possible! Mac I have a question: is there a time limit to arrive in Nome or do they wait until the last musher gets to the finish in Nome? (even if it takes a couple of day's)

  • You folks have done a FANTASTIC job of covering Aliy, Allen and SPKennel during this race! The Anchorage Daily News Iditarod web-site is also enamored with Aliy as noted by the multiple photos throughout the race. Great work Aliy, Allen, Mac, and all the rest!

  • That was hilarious—and endearing. I don't think Rosie was the only one looking for some petting. How hard must it have been for those on the sidelines to ignore their pleas? Was Aliy calling out "No pets" for the dogs or for the bystanders to hear?

I guess getting the dogs down the street in Nome, with all the distractions and temptations, is the last hurdle to overcome in order to finish the race.

    What great dogs!

  • Congratulations Aliy for you and your team for completing the Iditarod in your shortest time. You're a wonderful musher, and such wonderful dogs… great team! Bravo! Thank you so much for sharing it all with us – it's totally amazing.

    Smiles from Anchorage!

  • cool!

so, Rosie made Aliy a little bit nervous :o)
    great videos!
    thank you all.

now waiting for the kids …

  • Edwin: Everybody waits… The last musher is called the "red lantern musher" because the red lantern isn't extinguished until all teams are safely off the trail… Hopefully by the banquet on Sunday, but not necessarily.

  • Congrats Aliy! Good dogs! Also wondering where Aliy dropped ChaCha and how she's doing? Big hugs from the Fish & Wildlife 'family'!!

  • Also meant to ask, is that Kaz and Sammy at the finish? We haven't heard anything from Kaz in ages…Hi Kaz!

My son Sam is now 15 (and 6'1") and years ago I told Kaz and Aliy I would send him up to help on the dog lot during the summer when he turned 15. He would love to do it! Of couse, we have to heal up his broken leg from March 2nd. It's all good!

  • Rosie was too cute. She's like my son, a total people person…I mean dog. I like those signs at the beginning of the video. Are they up every year?

  • Yay Aliy! Great race. I loved seeing this footage coming into Nome, as when I saw the Insider footage, I couldn't figure out what the problem coming into the chute was…now I understand. Rosie just deciding she was through and those people looked good for a nice pet….

  • That's my dawg – 1000 miles and all she wants is a little lovin'. Thank goodness for Dingle and the rest. Rosie seems to think that Nome is where the party starts – she is always looking for love when she comes in. Way to go Aliy and the Red team, Mac and the dedication to the Kennel and see you soon Allen.

  • Aliy, Team Clarion is so proud of you and of course all the dogs!! How exciting is it that you shared what it looks and feels like to finish the great race.

We love you and all that you bring to this race. You inspire us.

  • Congrats to Aliy, the red team and everyone at SP Kennel. You guys are the best!! I have learned so much from all of you. Many thanks from the middle of America, Prairie Village, KS
