We heard the hollering from over the hilltop, then saw two huge dog team sprinting down to the finish line. Beaten by less than the length of the team, Allen and Bridgett have finished fourth. Details and video soon!

good job everyone loved the race and good luck on the iditarod this year
I so wanted Allen and Bridgett to win but the last leg seemed to take so long that I started worrying that something happened to a dog.
To see all of the dogs happy and healthy was a great feeling. I am so proud to know the people and dogs of SP kennel.

There are a number of factors which affected the Teams' performance… You can be sure they will be fully reviewed as we debrief…
One of the most significant was the "heat"… I know it must sound crazy to say that temps of 0-10 are "hot" but they are for our dogs who live and train most of the time in -10 to -30…
To put this in rough perspective, consider yourself training every day in 50-60 degree temps, then running a race in 80-90 degrees… Ugh!
The dogs can do it, just not as well… Plus, our dogs are "long-distance" dogs who are well conditioned for many days of consecutive running at slightly slower overall speeds…
Another "hard to believe" factor is that this race was really a short, sprint race… Not really what our teams are conditioned or best "tuned" for…
So, doing so well in these circumstances and having no major problems… "Perfect!"
