It’s just about midnight, so here’s a final update for the day:

Exactly on plan and schedule, Allen and Aliy took a two hour rest in Wolverine then ran to Sourdough where they are now. I just had a pretty garbled phone call with Bob who I’m pretty sure said that Aliy dropped Moonpie in Wolverine due to a sore wrist. Everyone and everything else seems to be fine. Also exactly on plan and schedule, Bridgett took a five hour rest in Wolverine and is now on her way to Sourdough with all 12 dogs. As usual, I can’t tell you what the plan is going forward, but I can tell you that the SP Kennel Team strategies are playing out very well.

I am going to take a few hours of mandatory rest before heading up the highway to a combination of visits at Sourdough, Meier’s Lake and Paxson… Stay tuned!

  • Love the race coverage! Love the comments by Macgellan-his excitement, his 'dog-voice'. Almost like being there, although I'm in upstate New York. Keep it coming! Go Allen! Aliy! Bridgett! and Macgellan of course!

  • I love the updates. Thanks! I just watched the clip from MushingTV.com of Aliy's start. Watching Happy is priceless! She was so excited when Aliy was heading her way, but as Aliy walked by it was like she was saying "ahem, ahem, I'm down here, you can love me now."

It's not just Happy either. It's a lot of fun watching clips knowing the personalities of the dogs! Watching for Skittle's crazy antics and how focused Petunia and Bullet are acting. Ranger's growth since the ANWR video!

Thanks for making all of us a part of your team!!

  • Mac, Hope your "mandatory" was a good one. Thank you for the videos and updates. It's almost like being there. I worked Sat, but kept checking the computer every so often to see how "my" teams were doing. My 7 year old daughter loves watching the dogs too. Go dawgs!

  • I know mushers look for dogs that run with their heads down and ears back, showing that they are focused, BUT can I just say I like how Happy holds her head high!

She has already taught us so many lessons, but here is one more…

You don't have to conform to societies accepted beliefs to be a champion. As long as you choose the right direction, you can hold your head high!

  • In an interview, Sam Deltour said last year he couldn't stop checking for updates, so he figured he might as well run!

I know how he feels. This is so addicting! I have a mile long to do list, but can't go on with my life until I know who else Aliy dropped!

  • I am Bridgett's aunt from Arkansas. Whoever is doing the SP Kennel Dog Log updates is doing a fantastic job. Keep up the good work. Racers be safe.

  • Thank you, thank you Mac for the video coverage and commentary. I'm pulling for all 3 SP teams. On by the way….Go Aliy! We'll see her here in Anchorage for the Iditarod. Thanks again!
