In the few years of its running, the Sheep Mountain 150 has become the season’s 1st major race. Competitors from both 1000 mile races, the Yukon Quest International Sled Dog Race and the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race, start their year’s racing here. Along with Aliy (Yukon Quest Champion) and Allen (3 time Copper Basin 300 Champion), all these great mushers are racing in this year’s Sheep Mountain: Jeff King (4 time Iditarod Champion), Hans Gatt (3 time Yukon Quest Champion), Ken Anderson (2008’s 2nd place Quest and 4th place Iditarod musher), Gerry Willomitzer and Sebastian Schnuelle (Quest and Iditarod mushers) and Iditarod Mushers Jessica Hendricks, Jim Lanier, Judy Currier, Jon Little and Robert Bundtzen. SP Kennel enjoys racing against these diverse teams and respects the effort and the dedication each of them have for this sport. The kennel prides itself for bringing out the best in each dog and each musher. Racing in the Sheep Mountain against all of the Sheep Mountain mushers helps us to do that.
