The end of March signals the sunset of our “season” here at SP Kennel. You won’t hear much from us for the next few months unless something interesting happens that we can share with you.

There is still lots of snow on the ground so the dogs are enjoying spring mushing through the local trails. Jeff, Wes and Wendy are taking teams out regularly and enjoying the warmer temps and sunshine that spring mushing affords.

Aliy and Allen (both healthy) and are currently in the Lower 48 visiting family. Sheila and Moira are far flung. Sheila has gone back to work in Europe and Moira is back in New Zealand. Moira will continue to monitor the website and emails from there. Feel free to email us throughout the off-season but expect a longer delay in response.

Thank you to everyone that has sent treats for the dogs. We are sharing them out amongst the whole kennel and “your dogs” are enjoying their special treats. We don’t always capture that on camera but rest assures, we really appreciate all you send!

All of us at SP Kennel want to thank YOU for another great season of sled dog races and mushing adventures. We always have much more fun when YOU are involved!

We promise to keep you informed if any dog (or musher) has retirement plans in the near future or if any puppies are on the horizon.

We’ve closed down all the Join The Team, Dog Fan Club and Gear Up The Dogs programs for the summer. Check back with us in October. Next season’s plans are far from our minds at this time.

Once again, a sincere and heartfelt THANK YOU to you all!

  • It has been a GREAT mushing season! It seems as if it has gone by so fast. Summer is here in North Carolina with hot weather nearly every day.
I look forward to the next mushing season as I will join the Dog Fan Club to be a fan of Dutch!
Also, THANK YOU SP Kennel for giving us fans informative and detailed updates on all the SPK adventures throughout the season! I am so happy to be a fan of SP Kennel!
I’m glad everyone is doing well and I hope SP Kennel has an amazing summer! 😀🐶😀

  • Thanks so much for this wonderful and informative post…so glad Allen has recovered and Aliy is OK too

It is a privilege to participate with you during the season, cheering 2 and 4 legged athletes on. Congratulations on exciting CB300, awesome Yukon Quest and looking forward to conquering the Southern Route NEXT YEAR> WOOF!!!

All the very very best for next season (which is far distant now).

    WOOF WOOF WOOF

  • Ditto to all of the above comments….SO glad to hear all is well! Enjoy the “down time” away from all the racing activities. Time to soak up some sun…the dog days of summer will be upon us soon enough!

  • Thank you so much Aliy andAllen.
Yes I agree. It’s great to hear that everyone is healthy, especially Allen.
Enjoy your snowy runs with Jeff, Wes and Wendy pups.
Enjoy your time in the lower 48 Aliy and Allen! I suspect you’re enjoying time with family, but I’m betting there are those of us in all 48 states that would gladly take you in, if you’re in our neck of the woods!
Happy to hear you’re home safe Moira and Sheila.
    🙂
