Things have certainly slowed down for us here in Nome now. We ran a few errands today:

Facebook followers will know Aliy did a Facebook Live interview with the Insider team. And, thanks Drew for providing us with a side-by-side to get around town in!

We also stopped by the dog yard to walk them around a little and give mid-afternoon snacks. We took jackets off for a while so they could enjoy the sunshine on their coats and give them a good back scratch.

While we were there Aliy bumped into Mats Petterssen, Jessie Holmes and Ketil Reitan and they talked dogs (of course!) All were impressed with Chipper!

Five enjoyed the sunshine
Sparkie is such a flirt
Driver’s so handsome
Mushers talk dogs
Dutch and Aliy share a moment
PDA with Chipper and Dutch

Thanks to all our Dog Sponsors, Team Members and Dog Fan Club Members. Your postcards from Nome were posted today! Remember they are coming from the Western Coast of Alaska so have a looong way to travel.

CREW UPDATE

Jeff, Bridgett and Barbara flew back to Anchorage today where Jeff will meet Allen’s team off the plane from Unalakleet tomorrow. He’ll drive them back to the kennel where I’m sure they will be pleased to be.

Aliy, Allen and Moira are still in Nome. A2 have the Iditarod Finishers Club meeting and Meet the Musher tomorrow and the banquet is Sunday evening. We and Aliy’s dogs will fly to Anchorage on Monday then home to the kennel.

  • Thanks to all of you for another wonderful experience armchair mushing with the Red and Black Teams. We admire your attitude, your expertise, and your love of your dogs. On to 2019!

  • How sweet are those pictures of Dutch, Chipper & Aliy! The love of the musher to the dog and
vice versa is something a lot of people do not understand. The dogs truly want to please!
Hope Allen is feeling good now. So happy when the dogs get off the airplane they will have
faces they recognize! Thanks Jeff, Bridgett and Barbara! Also many thanks for the info Moira!
Enjoy the banquet! Job well done!!

  • I read that it was required that the musher, or the musher’s designee be in the dog yard at all times. Who are all the wonderful people that devoted themselves to ensuring SPK dogs are safe?

So sassy Chipper has really and truly come into her own!

Looks like the dogs enjoyed their visit!! Love that picture of Driver….good boy!

Wow….just 1 more Meet the Mushers gathering and a Banquet to go, and this season will be over!

    I’m having withdrawals already!

  • Enjoy the time in Nome. Moira, thank you and the SPK Crew for all you have done for the SPK fans. This was an incredible season. Rest well, as I know the work never ends! Love, The Straw Ladies

  • These pics are awesome, but that “PDA with Chipper and Dutch” is absolutely PERFECT!!! <3 🙂

  • Allen – Were you on line to watch the greatest upset in March Madness history when #1 seed and nationally ranked Virginia lost to #16 University of Maryland Baltimore County? Gary tuned into Michigan state (being from Detroit), so we missed it.

Gary says it was one of the greatest upsets in the history of sports, one of the greatest embarrassments in the history of sports, and probably one of the greatest celebrations in the history of sports!
