While the mushers and their teams mush from Circle to Eagle then on to Dawson they cover around 300 miles of trail. The handler crews can’t go that way, it is inaccessible by road during the winter. We get to go on a road trip! From Circle we double back through to Two Rivers; around to Whitehorse on the Alaska Highway; up the Klondike to Dawson City. That is a long sentence… because it is a long drive!

At the end of the journey we set up camp in Dawson ready for their team to arrive. It’s a mission indeed but one we are all happy to do to support our loved ones.

We are about to take off from the kennel and during this drive I won’t be able to update you much. Make sure to keep up to date using the GPS tracker, the leaderboard and YQ Facebook Page.

  • That is a an extremely long drive! It is definitely the long way around! There will probably be some good scenery to see along the way, though. Safe travels!
I will continue to watch the GPS tracker to see how the race is going. GO SPK!

  • Drive safely. Thanks for all the updates and pictures Moira and crew. Know you will see some beautiful
countryside while traveling. Looking forward to pictures of the camp.

  • Safe travels! Have driven most of the hwy. and it is a long drive on dry roads much
less snowy. Miss the moose and other animals. It is all about the dogs and one
great musher. Needless to say a big Thank You to the SP Crew! SP is the Best!

  • Hoping you will do more interviews with Aliy to pass the time. Safe journey to all!

  • This race is really a group effort. Allen is very fortunate to have such a great support team. Drive safely and I am sure all of the Black Team is looking forward to seeing you.

  • Allen, as of this writing, you are have left for Eagle, about 1+ hours ahead of the next musher. It has been fascinating watching your race so far. I forget at which checkpoint you started to pull away from the pack, but it has been some race. I’ve been wondering, what is it that makes this year different – are the dogs faster, are your rest periods more strategically placed… I am proud to say that I am an SPK fan. Best to you and the dogs.

  • Safe and smooth travels to the handler crew.
Allen couldn’t do what he’s doing without you!

    Thank you!
