This year, as with many other years, Aliy carried a hand held video camera to capture sections of the trail she wanted to share with you all.

In this video, the first in the series, the team is heading towards Huslia and Aliy talks about her team and the trail.

  • I so love the recap videos and especially Aliy's commentary. Getting an educational insights. How cool it is seeing Aliy's shadow on the snow. So look forward to more of these trail video clips. Thanks for sharing!

  • Love the video and Aliy talking about Woody, Violet being dropped.
Hope the dogs are enjoying some time off. Terrific Team!

  • Ah….I was in need of an SPK Sled Dog video fix….thank you! Looked like a gorgeous day on the run into Huslia…the Team of 14 just trotting right along…all business! Funny how Champ kept looking back at you as if to wonder who you were talking to! That sure is some flat country through there…looks like you could see for miles!

  • Thanks so much for managing to thaw out the camera!!!

How beautiful – I love the colors and shadows – what a special treat for those of us who are "armchair mushers!!!"

    WOOF WOOF WOOF!!!

    Truly inspiring.

    Best always,

    Margaret

  • Awesome! I always enjoy the tidbits of information like the village to village trail, marsh land and the smaller than average spruce trees.

Haha, Champ! I never get tired of watching the dogs from your view on the sled. Thanks!

  • I always feel like you are talking to ME! and I am right there quietly taking it all in. Thanks for this.

  • I wondered what the trail to Huslia was like. For some reason, I imagined there would be more in rolling banks along those marshes.

    Thanks for the video.

  • Beautiful ride, through a piece of trail I don't believe I've seen before. Even a little under the weather your team is looking sharp. Thank you for the info on Violet.
On the post card from Nome it said, Violet was recovered and "ready to sit on your lap." I took that to mean everyone who is willing to let Violet sit on their lap. So I didn't rush up to get her, ha ha.
In November I will have some time off work, and I really do plan to get up to visit. I hope Violet will be ready to climb in my lap for real, for a nice warm snuggle.
