Last week, all of us at the kennel enjoyed a few lazy summer afternoons.

The dogs enjoyed the sunshine filled days and so did the mushers. They were perfect to laze around and chew on a couple of bones.

We also went on several dog walks.

Our neighbors have gorgeous Peony fields. While they don’t appreciate the dogs running a muck through their gorgeous flowers, they don’t mind us sitting for a spell and admiring the flowers.

Lydia and Aliy had some ‘down time’ next to a pretty red Peony.

Chipper’s bone is nearly bigger than her; Biscuit enjoys his bone in the shade.

  • "Summertime and the livin' is easy…" So nice to know you and the dogs are having some "down time."

  • What a lovely post!!! I agree with all posting prior…thanks so much for this "kick back and smell the…peonies" essay.

And it is news indeed that the two legged team member is taken for a walk in the fields by Lydia!!!

  • Always nice to stop and smell the peonys! Great to hear you scheduled in some lazy dog days of summer! Our pups are tuckered from this heat…always fun to spend time at the secret swimming hole to cool off!

  • Enjoy the lazy days while you can – by this time next week you should be knee deep in puppies again! Seriously, I can feel the sunshine on my face and smell those peonies now. Thanks for all your posts this summer. They help keep the Quest/Iditarod withdrawal symptoms at bay.

  • Ah, the lazy days of summer. What a great way to spend a summer afternoon, waling the dogs and smelling the Peony's. Beautiful gorgeous flowers that Alaskan summers produce.

  • Peony fragrance must be nice! I love them but can not grow them real well down in so cal. Everything looks so green and lush up there.
