Izzy and Scout lead the team over the finish line

Izzy and Scout plus Mismo!

I’ll write some words soon. The dogs are fed, we’re feeding Allen and we’re all so happy! I’ll just say: how many dog teams howl at the finish line after 1000 miles? I know of one!!

Great team, fabulous mushers, incredible handlers. We told Beemer and Viper that their brother Scout was in lead 💕 and they perked right up !!! Congratulations 🐶

  • Great, great, great! Your post may say you have words to add, but as far as I'm concerned the word "great" says it all. Great dogs, great musher, great kennel, great support team! So proud to be a fan. Getting 13 dogs to the finish so perky and happy in the temps during the last couple legs is a testament to you all. Congratulations!

  • All of my excitement – I am howling with the dogs! Way to go, Allen and the Black Team! WAY TO GO! What a happy and happy and – did I mention HAPPY? – dog team that is – after RACING FOR A THOUSAND MILES! Incredible. Just incredible. You have done an amazing job of getting this team to the finish line is top spirits and top shape. Congratulations from NE Minnesota. From the posts – congratulations from all over the world. Your fans are cheering with you. Way to go.

  • Okay, time to rest the REFRESH finger. Wonderful race Allen. You and the dogs were amazing as were all the handlers, crew, volunteers and sponsors and other mushers/teams. The picture of you and Brent on the YQ Facebook site is awesome as were the shots of the dogs getting their treats. No one looked tired. They looked like they could go another 1000 miles… and some will! Enjoy some sleep and eats.

  • Allen, you always keep this race interesting. I am thinking of Biscuit leading over American Summit, Chica leading on Birch Creek, and now Izzy at the finish line. That is just too cool – and how great to see Mismo really come into his own along with Kodiak. I am so impressed that you took that chance on Commando – intelligent, focused young dog.

  • If this is what a transitional team does on their first long run I think SPK has a VERY bright future!!!!! Congrats to the Black Team on a stunning run.

  • Great race. Congratulations. Am looking forward to your commentary on the race. Here are my questions:
You said at the banquet that you had a young team. The implication is that you wouldn't push them as hard as you would have a more seasoned team. However, you were always in the running for a top 3 finish in this race. 1) Did you ever entertain the idea of going for the win? ) At what point did you think, I need to back off? 3) How much did the weather play into your decisions and how did the dogs handle the heat? 4) Who is the MVD? 5) What was the hardest part of this year's race?

  • This was such a fun race to follow. You guys are amazing and talk about a dog team. Wow. Congratulations on a great race. Way to go Black Team!

  • What a wonderful picture to cap off a fabulous race. Congratulations to the "youngsters" and especially to Allen And Scout, the "oldsters" who still feel and act like "youngsters". Great race guys.

    Ann and Tom Shillington

  • Wonderful!
    Izzy, "What's happening Scout?"
Scout, "Just be cool Izzy, and don't mess up my photo shoot."
Mismo, "Hey, I was in lead too. Don't you want me in the pic?"
Schmoe, "I could have lead. Hey, look at that tree over there!"

Everyone looks so happy and healthy!
Your photos are worth a thousand words. So much to be proud of at SPK!!!

  • Congratulations spk aliy and Allen and team Moore rooting for you all the way brother 1st place next year

  • Yea, Allen! What a race and congratulations to all. Izzy, , Scout and Mismo looked unbelievably good at the finish! Actually the shot of all the dogs and Allen was terrific…like they'd just come off a short training run. The future of SP Kennel couldn't look brighter; I'm so excited and happy for everyone involved in making this happen!

Also a special thank you to Moira and everyone else who kept us fans abreast of the action. So often, it's so hard for us on the "sidelines." We want to be able to be there for you, follow everything, and cheer you and dogs on. You made that possible more than ever this year with your Yukon Quest posts. Thank you, and on onward to Nome!
