During the Iditarod weekend in Anchorage the entire SP Kennel Crew of dogs and humans will be staying at the Extended Stay Anchorage – Downtown.

Come stay with us and you might get to meet the dogs and the crew! We will let you know the schedule for when we “drop the dogs” (actually: lift them down very carefully) from the truck during Friday, Saturday and Sunday for feeding and walking, so come and visit with us. We would love to see you!

Please email Linda Steiner at: lsteiner@extendedstay.com for bookings, pricing and availability.

We will keep this button in the ‘fan zone’ (left hand side) of the blog that links you to more information and contact details.

NOTE: At this point in time there are no plans for a ‘Meet-and-Greet’ with Aliy and Allen this year.

  • Sounds like a great plan, and if I recall, last year the dogs who ran the Ceremonial Start trot were not all on the actual teams that were in the race itself.

Checking out the Iditarod website, I note that the ceremonial start will indeed be ceremonial, and the real start will again be in Fairbanks: http://iditarod.com/race/weather/.

Woof, woof, woof, time for a snow dance to have the heavens open up in Feb. for the YQ and then again in March for Iditarod!!!

Mother Nature should learn to chill out!

    Best of luck always,

    –Margaret
    P.S. Woof, woof.

  • I'm so bummed we are not going this year….but I must say staying with you all in the the same hotel last year was awesome….l got to visit with all the dogs a few different times and got some great pictures and bonded with Boondocks over a butt scratch!! If you are going to Iditarod this year I highly recommend staying where SPK stays so you can meet all your furry friends…as well as the SPK Crew…you folks are the best!
