Wow! The Dog Log hit two million views late last week; that’s amazing!

Thank you all for your interest in our dogs and our lifestyle! We love sharing it with you.

The very first post on the doglog was back on February 14, 2007 and last week, over 2,000 posts later, we hit this incredible milestone.

We always enjoy looking over our stats page to see what posts got the most views and where in the world our audience is.

Clearly most of our audience is from the USA but check out where else our readers are.

Tell us in the comments below where you are reading this from.

And, thanks again!

  • Hello SPKennel,
I am from Northern Virginia and love to follow the Iditarod. It is fun to check in and see how you all and the dogs are doing. Thanks for posting things frequently for us to read. I have dreams of visiting Alaska some day and maybe riding on a dog sled. Those huskies are beautiful!

  • Good morning from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. We were finally planning our "Alaska Bucket-List" trip for Sept 2014 and in preparation I was absorbing as much info as possible. I followed the 2014 Iditarod for the first time and needless to say…. I am hooked!! That led me to my interest and enjoyment of now following the SPK Teams and the continuing education and insights! I enjoy you all thoroughly and thank you! Best of continued success to SPK!!

  • Been watching, reading and following from the beginning! It's been incredible to watch SP grow into such a top-notch racing Kennel!
    Congratulations!
From Southern, NH! Nancy and Gaige boy!

  • Hello SPKennel-Team,
I'm following the news from and about SPKennel from Germany. It's fun and so much different from what we are used to, and sometimes one even feels a little bit as an 'insider'. I'm looking forward to the next ID, and yes, I also have dreams of visiting Alaska some day and maybe riding on a dog sled – even at age 68.

  • Many congratulations!!! Of course millions of people visit your blog!!! It is absolutely awesome, interesting and honest!!! ❤️💙💖💜💚😃🐾🐾🐾🐾👣😘

  • Hi y'all, you know we are following from Revere, PA. More and more of our family, friends and tax clients are following from NJ too! I have a client in a retirement home who is 83 years d and she loves following ever since she met Hoss. She talks about SP Kennel every time I speak to her. It's cute. You are all very much admired. well done!! Much love, Cindy Eckhoff

  • I'm with Maryalice — I'd love to visit Alaska, but the Dog Blog and other musher blogs/FB pages are my next best thing. I follow the Yukon Quest, Iditarod and Ivakkak as closely as I can from Wisconsin.

  • HI SP Kennel

Debra from Arizona. I am 45 minutes from the Mexican border in Arizona. I run a small recreational team of huskies for urban mushing or on the sled in northern Arizona.! Love watching you!

  • Reading/writing from Centennial, CO. Wow indeed. I had no idea that there were so many of us who adore you all there. Still, you make it feel warm and cozy. Your blog inspired my hubs and I to come to the Iditarod 2015 and stay on the Aliy and Friends rate at the Comfort Inn. I got to see Waylon, my man, up close as well as Aliy and Allen too. A dream come true.

  • Congrats SP Kennel! Seems like just a short time ago we were celebrating 1 million views! As you know the Dog Log is part of my daily routine, but I have also shared a link to your site with friends in Ontario and Nova Scotia and of course numerous folks here in the lower 48. The Dog Log is so informative and fun it makes people want to return to "see what's happening". Well done!

  • WOW! Congratulations, who would have guessed this milestone. We are the lucky fans to have such a great place to participate in watching and commenting about the Best kennel in AK. Thanks to the entire team and doggies. Thank you Aliy!

  • I'm reading this from Southern California. I'm no help on which articles get the most views – I read them all! In fact, during a "lull" in postings when you all were taking a much deserved vacation, I even went back to the very beginning and started reading through again. Was fun to see some dogs who are now retired.

The post I would most like to see repeated is one where Aliy did a family tree of all the dogs since the beginning of the kennel. I've haven't run across it yet, but I will get there. It was really fun to see how the kennel has grown. That tree is now tall and strong with lots of new branches.

  • Reading from about 130 miles southeast of Manila, Arkansas.
Allen, the annual pollen blizzard is underway here in the Natural State!!!!! Thanks for keeping the site updated….fun to follow.

  • Reading from Edmond Oklahoma. Congratulations SPKennel. I became an SPKennel fan about three years ago when I read the About Us section and really like what happens to your retired dogs and also like your breeding practices. I get more hooked on this site every year as I watch the racing season unfold. Love watching the dogs run, and I love how much you love your dogs.

  • I am reading from Southern California. I got interested in SP Kennel from seeing Aliy and Allen on a visit to Alaska in 2013.

  • Reading from Maine. On a cruise to AK, we went on a sled dog ride and I loved it. Wanted to learn more and had a friend who has taught the Iditarod in her classroom for years and is a big SPK fan. So I got hooked. I am sure I am responsible for lots of those views as I try to remember who are siblings and uncles etc. Thanks for keeping us so informed.

  • A-town's home in Central Cali. Congratulations SPK!
You deserve it. That's why your sponsors are the smartest sponsors; they also get those views. 🙂

Education, information, honesty, upbeat, tear jerking, full of love and dedication, SPK Dog Log is unbeatable. Thank You!

Love your stats page, looks like it was busy creating it's own peaks while Aliy and her team were flying up cape nome.
    🙂

  • Reading the doglog from London, Ontario, Canada. I am responsible for many of those Canadian hits!
I first started following mushing in 2009 when I was looking for an interesting event for my homeschooled son to follow. He wanted to follow it in 2010 too, so I started doing research in order to teach him something "new." That's when I discovered the doglog and the wealth of information to be found here. Thank you so much for all the work you put into this website! I follow all the races now, and many different mushers. But I am an SPKennel diehard fan. I teach homeschool classes every year and turn out lots more SPKennel fans as I show them your videos and teach what I've learned from you.
Thanks again for ALL you do for the sport.

  • From Ohio. Two winters ago, experiencing Alaskan like weather, I wondered about the Iditarod Went to u tube and typed it in.There you were SP Kennel. Been watching ever since.

  • Hi from Karla in Sydney, Australia – have been following since Moira's first journey to SPK (I went to High School with her). Love keeping up with the day to day happenings at the kennel and following the teams during race season.

  • I have been following SPKennel since 2012 from Leeds, West Yorkshire, UK. I love the youtube video of the Happy River steps/Iditarod-I take my hat off to Aliy and the team every time I watch it.

  • Good morning from Mt. Juliet, Tennessee. We have been following Aliy since first meeting her at the Musher's Ball in 2004 – so have been enjoying the doglog from the beginning. Watching SPK's continuous growth into the award winning kennel they are today has been exciting and such a joy. We look forward to continuing the journey.
    Hugs to all (especially Scout),
    Ann and Tom Shillington

  • I am from Garden Grove, California. I heard about the Iditarod and saw Susan Butcher's dogs on a cruise tour to Alaska. When I came home, I looked found the Iditarod's website, clicked on the mushers' page and found the link to your blog. It was so informative and helped me to understand about not only mushing, but about the races themselves, dog care, and life in Alaska.
I became fascinated with the Aliy cam as it showed me what I will never experience…the Iditarod trail during the race. We would all hear about things like the Happy River Steps, but the Aliy Cam gave me the true picture.
I also enjoyed Aliy's trail notes about the race, Mac's videos, and the posts from all the people who have helped as handlers. They have tried very hard to help us understand the logistics, the behind-the-scenes activities, the training, and the races themselves, and for that, I am very grateful.
I only wish the racing season were longer! I tell everyone who will listen about your blog.
I am responsible for many views, including during your off-season as I still check the website often, hoping someone will post something about the dogs.

Thank you for your very informative blog and congratulations on your milestone accomplishment. Congratulations also on your successful racing season.

  • Congrats on reaching the milestone of 2 million hits! I've been a faithful reader of the DogLog since at least the 2009 Iditarod and live in (already way too hot for April) Eastern North Carolina. Always been proud to be a fan and admire you all so very much.

  • I've been following Iditarod and SP Kennel since 2006.

–Margaret (from Weston, CT – second post in this thread)

  • Checking in and following on Facebook from Lititz, Lancaster County, Pennjsylvania. Just west of Philly.

  • Hey everyone! My fourth season loving this blog from Philly and South Jersey. Recently enjoyed going back to see the puppy updates through the years. Love seeing baby pictures and videos of the SP veterans. I also enjoy re-reading some of my favorite posts. The Face of Fats is one of them.

  • Following from Minnesota, I started watching the Iditarod back in 2012. I somehow came across the SPK Blog and needless to say became hooked on not only the Iditarod but all things Alaska, dogs, mushers and supporting family and crew!! My family knows when the Yukon Quest & Iditarod take place all my spare time is spent following the events. It has been so educational following you and appreciate your dog first attidude. I do have to admit I miss the Aliy notes from years passed and hope someday you may write a book.

  • Well yeah!! This is an awesome site and anyone who has interest in sled dog racing, especially the endurance 'big' races just has to visit and follow! I know a number of other mushers have some good sites too but this one is just so rockin' special awesome!! It's so great to get to know all the dogs and of course feel a link to Aliy and Allen and the rest of the SPK crew. You guys are truly primo.

  • Western New York, near Buffalo. Love SP Kennels and all you share on your site, especially the opportunity to learn and participate. I was one of the uniformed that worried about the life of a sled dog being a sad one, I have learned a lot and am so happy when I see how healthy, happy and well cared for they really are. Thanks to Alan and Aliy for boarding our Princes Cruise train.

  • Been busy a couple of weeks and not checking in. Thanks for all the insights and further information during Iditarod withdrawal!

  • Anchorage here always checking in on the adventures of spkennel. Love this site and the amazing stories.

  • Started to follow Aliy from northern Finland, Kittila, by following her Yukon Quest in 1998-1999 winter. Every morning arriving infront of the Hotel giving dog rides I run to the reception desk after setting up to their computer, the only access, to get updates and print outs. Now it is so much easier to get these awesome insights into the life of the SPK kennel family by blogs, Facebook and comments . Here in the Yukon life is similar to Two Rivers, but different. Never stop to admire and advertise the best dog care giving people . Congrats to the ability to fascinate so very many interested fans continuously ! Hugs to each dog hero.

  • Congratulations! You deserve the attention and more for the quality "product" you deliver all of us. Big thanks from those of us who have to live vicariously through you the dream of being a mushing kennel operator and trainer. Am so grateful for your thoughtful and articulate postings. Wish I could be more financially supportive as well.
